Julia Kotzé

 2016 - First year U23 Ladies

 

Julia was born on 20 January 1997 and just completed her matric year.  She likes cycling and road trips, especially unplanned routes, also pancakes and mint chocolates. She really loves cold weather!

 

"I really dislike being sick when I should be training, swimming and being interrupted!"

 

Her motto is derived from Finding Nemo's "just keep swimming" - "Just keep going!"

 

Julia's mom inspires her because she never gives up, always perseveres and up for a challenge.  Julia finds the perfect role model in her mom and looks up to her because she leads by example.

 

Nickname: Jules

2016 - U16

 

Jacques was born on 1 August 2000.  He likes cycling because it is a welcome escape from the rat race.  He loves the feeling when he's finished a race knowing that he has given all he has.  His aim is to win one or more of the Trailseeker races.

 

Jacques likes outdoor living, birds and hunting. He loves to help others and tries to respect both younger and older people.  He doesn't like cold weather and cats.

 

His motto is: 'Live a life you'll remember!', and he's inspired by people with a good self-image and confidence.

 

Nickname: Reserved for family only, at the Shack we call him 'Jakkals'

Jacques Botha

Harno Coetzer

2016 - U16

 

Harno was born on 9 June 2000.  Burry Stander is his inspiration and he is driven by his support network, Oom Hannes and the Cycle Shack family.

 

To Harno every podium is a step up on the ladder of success and a reason to be grateful for the privilege to live out his talent and enjoy good health.  Joe is an example to him and he strives to earn provincial colours like him.

 

Harno's motto is:  'Keep the wheels turning and stay humble.

 

Nickname: Vlerkies

Jared Cowan

Josef Bester

2016 - First year Junior Men

 

Jared was born on 3 March 1999 and is very passionate about cycling and strives to become the best. His goal is to participate in the Olympics and do well for his country.

 

Burry Stander is Jared's role model and he loves everything there is to cycling.  He dislikes suffering in a race.

 

Jared was awarded Gauteng North colours for Mountain Biking XCO

 

Nickname: Roadrunner - because he is fast in single track

2016 - Final year U23 Men

 

Team Captain, Josef Bester was born on 19 December 1994.  He has been cycling since he was 10 and became involved in the sport full time in 2014.

 

Josef is a Cytech 2 qualified cycle mechanic and is living out his passion from the family cycle shop.

 

Nickname: Joe, or as Jared pointed out, if he is Roadrunner, Joe is 'The Daddy One' because he is faster!
